Top 5 Feel Goods 9.25.20

This has definitely been a week especially in regards to the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and in terms of civil rights and Black Lives Matter. Selfishly, I’m so glad I have this on the site every week so that it leaves me accountable to not only take notice of some of the good this week, but the ability to be able to share it with all of you. Hope it gives you a few moments of lightness and makes you smile.

Good Morning America

1. These group of Dads are the best! They provide free desks to low income students who need them during this time of remote learning. I love stories where people are really thinking outside of themselves and wanting to help others! This was so kind and warmed my heart. Read the full story.

2. This story is soooo sweet! This 88 year old pizza man gets a special delivery of his own! I cannot believe this family along with their Tik Tok followers were able to give Derlin Newey such a precious gift of $12,000 dollars! He was really struggling with bills and living alone so this must have helped a great deal. Watch the video to see his reaction when he receives the envelope, but get ready to pass the tissues. I got pretty weepy.

3. Of course, being the Hallmark Channel gal I am, this has to make my top list of feel goods for the week! Hallmark Channel announced their programming schedule for Countdown to Christmas and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries announced their schedule for Miracles of Christmas! I can’t wait to cover all of these movies on my podcast Hallmark Channels’ Bubbly Sesh! Even if I didn’t work with Hallmark Channel, this is one of the events I always look forward to! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! The Hallmark Channel First Look trailer is above and the Miracles of Christmas trailer is below to get you in the spirit.

4. Franck is back! I was so excited when Nancy Meyers teased this on her social media a few weeks back and now it’s here! The Banks Family reunites 25 years later for a very special event to benefit World Central Kitchen! So lovely that they are all coming back for charity and to help us escape. I love this movie and this family. It premieres today on Netflix You Tube and Facebook, but will be staying up so in case you don’t catch it when it first drops. If you want to donate to World Central Kitchen visit: https://wck.org/father

5. Rats typically get a bad wrap, but this rat deserves all the praise and more! Magawa, a giant African poached rat received the UK’s People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals civilian award for bravery because Magawa has found 39 land mines and 28 items of unexploded ordinance. This has cleared more than 141,000 square meters of land in Cambodia! What an amazing service animal or now as he’s called Hero Rat! He can search an area in 30 minutes vs a human metal detector that would take 4 days. Watch him get his award in the video below. Way to go Magawa! This tiny medal on his neck just makes me smile so big!
